How are you doing?

ree

Hi everyone. Welcome to my blog And So We Waited. My name is Thabiso Disene, , a daughter, wife and a mom. My journey to motherhood was very long, very frustrating and very lonely. My story includes an ectopic pregnancy six months after our wedding celebration; a sad reality of facing infertility; hundreds of fertility treatment shots and the happiness of our rainbow babies.

The reality, howeve, is that sometimes we mask our sadness, pain, or anxiety with happy faces and cute photos. Maybe it is because we do not want to burden anyone with our truth. So, we end up choosing to keep things light and simple. I am not any different, the photo above was taken a day after we received a call fro our fertility clinic that our transfer was unsuccessful. Except for a few people who knew what we were going through, no one else had a cue about the amount of grief we were carrying.

The inception of this blog was purely based on that. To start normalising conversations about pregnancy loss, infertility and postpartum challenges that many of us face. The more the stigmas around such topics ca be broken down, the easier it will be to share our stories.
