For the National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), great efforts were made last week to raise awareness by @resolveorg, the National Infertility Association in the US. An initiative so close to my heart I could not miss partaking in their 5 day challenge. Infertility journey can be so hard and the sense of isolation makes it even more unbearable. It can be daunting and confusing. What we know for sure is that:
- Infertility is a disease
- In SA it affects 1 in 6 couples
- There are no quick fixes
- Infertility does not only affect females
Last week was indeed empowering , but was also emotionally & mentally heavy…..Infertility sucks, but it is reassuring to know the awareness was spread and will continue to be spread……There are communities world wide that will continue the conversation and push to change the narrative.
