Odd & ‘Tested’ Tricks of the Trade…

When months passed and I was still not winning with TRYING TO CONCEIVE (TTC), I started feeling desperate to have a baby. I was willing to give anything a go! I jumped onto the old wives’ tale bandwagon and started believing strongly in the following:

ree

Pineapple & its core: I started cutting my pineapple into sixths and would eat a piece a day. I ate this a few days before and after ovulation. The core was what I was after!

I did that after I read that the core of the pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain, which increased blood to the uterus.

Avocados: a fantastic source of vitamin E, which studies have shown can be beneficial in improving the lining of the uterus. They were also highlighted as one of the super foods for both male and female fertility. Not only were they good for boosting libido, but also provided nutrients that are great for sexual organs.

I would have them for breakfast, lunch and supper, With my bread, in a salad, as a snack or with my favorite … atchaar 😋. We wanted a baby, so if it meant swimming in avo hey, so be it 😂

ree

Hot cinnamon milk: one of the ‘when are you having a baby’ conversations at work also came with someone suggesting what I could have to help with the process. I was told to have warm milk with cinnamon before I head to bed at night. Apparently that method had worked for them and they had a baby girl to show for it ……

Although I could not find any scientific evidence to proof it, and I was also not a big fan of milk….I was not going to ignore it …. I drank this every night without fail.

Ooooohhhh the one that probably takes the cup is me having to take cough mixture even when I had no cough…….’DESPERATE TIMES CALL FOR DESPERATE MEASURES

ree

Cough syrup which contains guaifenesin:this active ingredient some would say it could help one get pregnant by making one’s cervical fluid wetter and more slippery which made the sperm to travel through one’s cervix to fertilize the egg.

I am not sure how I got to know about the cough mixture, but one thing I remember was stocking up with a few boxes. I used to have a tablespoon a day before and after during ovulation.

Our monthly grocery list also included nuts, pomegranate juice and green leafy vegetables. I was on a mission, and I was not going to leave any stone unturned.

I believed that one way or the other, “Something had to give……..”
