Before 2017, I never had to overthink celebrating Mothers’ Day because not only am I Oteng’s bonus mom (I prefer that than stepmom), but I am also Rakgadi wa Boikanyo (Boikanyo’s aunt) and as well as a godmother to my friends’ kids.
But celebrating that special day in 2017 was bloody hard to do. It was one of the toughest and hardest day I had to endure.
The day came with the longing, the desire, the hope, the guilt and mostly the sadness🥺
I kept thinking I would have been 6 months pregnant. I would be growing rounder and wider. I would be feeling my baby’s kicks. My heart ached and my mind wandered.…..😭

That day reminded me that my womb was empty. I shed a tear because I also knew a year from that day my arms would be empty.
